My wife and I are going to Jazz Fest this year for our 25th anniversary. If you were to recommend one restaurant, what would it be? We're not looking for fancy - just great food. Thanks in advance.

I guess I naively left the question too open ended. Not too fancy was the only criterion. How about seafood in or within walking distance of the French Quarter. Hope that narrows it a little.

      GW Fins:

I thought that you "didn't need" fancy, rather than specifically wanted to exclude it. That let's out Galatoire's which (although the atmosphere is relaxed and informal) does have a dress code.

Before I posted here I came up with my own short list which included GW Fins. I think we're going to go with it. Thanks for the recommendation.

          Good choice.

If I could only eat at one restaurant during a visit, I think I would opt for Galatoire's, for quintessential Creole cuisine and a quintessential NOLA experience.

im sorry mccluskey, but I LLOL'd (literally lol'd - I feel its my duty to differentiate) when I read your inquiry. New Orleans is one of the great eating cities in the world. You're going need to be a bit more specific for a recommendation. Asking for great food narrows it down to, roughly 250 restaurants.
