MKE - For fans of Sanford

Fowler Feb 24, 2014 11:05 AM

While Sanford (Sandy) D'Amato no longer owns the iconic Milwaukee restaurant Sanford, he is telling his story tonight at 6:30 PM on the PBS show "I Remember". I knew him outside of work and he's really an interesting guy. Very modest, passionate about food and the show should have some interesting stories.

Channel 1010 if you have TWC.

hmmm I'll have to watch the listings would love to see the show. I went to a cooking class at Sanfords when he was just opening the restaurant. And I agree he is a gentle humble person who is passionate about his cooking. I did purchase his book and haven't read it all the way thru but it is that kind of cookbook - lots of stories to read.

Hi chocchic, They usually re-run the "I Remember" shows so hopefully they will broadcast this one again. It may even be available online. It was an informative interview and representative of Sandy's intellect and his gentle personality.

I have his book on order from the library and am looking forward to reading it. If you like the looks of the recipes in his book, I believe JS Online still retains many of his recipes on their site from when he wrote articles for them.

Episodes of "I Remember" can be viewed on the internet within five days after broadcast. The new one is episode #2009 and is not available yet, but should be by the end of the week. You can find it on the "I Remember" page on MPTV's website at www.mptv.org/localshows/i_remember

The above link doesn't work, because I omitted the final slash mark (should still work anyway, but doesn't). This link should work fine:

Program #2009, featuring Sanford D'Amato, is now available for viewing by using this link. Or, you can go straight to the link for the video on Youtube, where it is stored:
