Cheese plates?

  • s

I'll be spending next weekend in Montreal. I'd like to sample the unpasteurized French and French-style cheeses that we can't get here in the U.S. Can anyone recommend restaurants with outstanding cheese courses, or a good retail store that will sell small quantities?

  1. Hamel is a great place to shop for cheeses - there is a shop at the Jean Talon outdoor market and another one waayyyyy out on Sherbrooke. Also, try the Atwater market, there is a good cheese shop on the ground floor - can't remember the name - perhaps someone else here knows?? I think Hamel has a website as well.

Here's the website for Hamel. What's nice is that they've specified in the descriptions which cheeses are made from raw milk (cru lait) and which are pasteurized.
