Anyone seen blanton's gold, or straight from the barrel, in Cozumel?

these are two of the varieties of blanton's bourbon that are not sold in the US. I adore them, and am swinging by cozumel (and jamacia... if anyone has seen them there) in about a month on a cruise.

Normally i've seen these bourbons in st. thomas or st. martin, but that's not on the itinerary this year.

Any sightings/help is appreciated!

  1. BVI or USVI, not Mexico. But check out Covi in Cozumel for interesting selections, I recommend Xtabentun.

shame to hear that, but will check out Covi for sure. thanks!

I mentioned Xtabentun, a honey-anise liqueur made in the Yucatan, because it is hard to find and somewhat expensive in the states, but quite inexpensive in Mexico. And quite tasty. High quality mescal is all but impossible to find in the tourist areas of Mexico. The high end Havana Club rum is available at Covi, but of course you are taking your chances. I have brought back probably 80 bottles over the years, in my dive bag and never a problem.

yep! i googled it after reading; looks like it would be fun to play around with. also good to know about the mezcal, much obliged... don't suppose you have any recommendations on jamaica?

and now i just need to find someone going to usvi/bvi...

I have enjoyed Jamaica, but I don't want to bring anything home, especially a STD (!). At the moment, I think DR makes the best cigars (Davidoff) and rums are a coin toss, there are SO many good rums now.
For Blanton's Gold, either Providenciales or Bermuda.

good to know! Yeah- I can't think of any rums that intrigue me that actually come from Jamaica, so no reason to expect there would be particularly competitive prices, i suppose.

    2. Also check the MEGA store on Melgar. They have a large selection of liquors, though not as much as Covi. Not sure about the Blanton's as I've never looked for bourbon there. But descent mescal selections last time we were there. Second Veggo's Xtabentum rec. Give the DuFry shops at the piers a good once over as well.
