Off the beaten track in Montreal

Hello, I will be in Montreal in the summer and I am interested in seeing the not so touristy side of Montreal. I am interested in anything alternative to the mundane touristy things. I am looking for unusual activities and alternative events. Nothing too extreme as some things may be used in a Television program. I want to find the truely funky side of Montreal with a bit of the bizzare.

If anyone knows of cool alternative places off the beaten track or unusual activities, Please reply.
