Wilmington, N.C.- A Delicious Report!

DH and I had a quick visit to Wilmington, N.C. recently, and I can say that we ate good!
First, I want to mention how NICE everyone was- from servers at restaurants to our hotel personnel, we were impressed with the hospitality.

Jackson's Big Oak BBQ- I decided to see if we could eat some bbq, being in NC and all and this place came up upon Googling.
We loved the place- the prices are cheap, not just inexpensive, but cheap for what you get- at least half of what we pay for just about the exact same thing where we live.
Everything is served on styrofoam with plastic utensils, but the drinks were served in plastic cups and the refills were generous, to say the least.
DH and I went for the pork platter- pulled pork with several ribs. The ribs came with a red vinegar sauce, and the pulled pork was redolent with vinegar.
Sides- collards were a bit sweet, which offset the vinegar nicely. The mac and cheese was servicable, and the beans were the best of the sides with deep flavor of smoke and a bit of molasses.

Oceanic Restaurant on Wrightsville Beach- we had a lovely lunch here.
We were seated in a banquet to take in the gorgeous view.
DH had the fried flounder platter which came with fries and slaw, and I had shrimp and grits, that was rather bland despite the tasso in the sauce.
Their "famous" crab dip tasted good, despite being light on the crab.
Our server was delightful, and overall, I'd highly recommend a leisurely lunch here for the prices and the view.

Flaming Amy's Burrito- Quirky, hip, happening and delicious are my words for Amy's. Amy's slogan is "Hot, Fast, Cheap and Easy".
Amy's is al of the above.
We got... burritios, of course!
I had the Bayou themed and DH had the Jerk themed. The burritos are stuffed with deliciousness- meat of choice, beans of choice, rice, cheese, sour cream and other stuff depending on your choice.
Burritos come with a heaping helping of fresh chips to dip in your choice of 8+ salsas from the salsa bar.
Yes, say that again, salsa bar. Heaven.
Highly recommend.
Amy's also has Flaming Amy's Bowl, an Asian themed joint.
