My Sandwich of the Year - Roasted Pork Sandwich - A Cut Above Butcher Shop - East Side (of SaMo) -

Wow.
Fantastic porchetta on toasted rye -- the cuts will vary day-to-day I was told, but today's was porchetta (alas, no crunchy rind that I could detect). But still a massively flavorful sandy.
It is hard to walk by Tacos Puntas without being pulled into that orbit but glad I kept the thrusters going today, all the way to 24th and SMB. YUMMY!
Menu shot and Sandy shot attached.

I know. But. You know when you know that you know even when there is no rational justification for knowing it?

Like love at first s(b)ite? The lightly smoked Gouda and pickled onions are the perfect foil for the heavenly, rich pork. The aoili and mustard (for a change) do not scream-out their presence, trying to take center stage, but blend in very, very nicely.
      Close to perfect. I know.

BTW - Why not keep a (SOTY) Sandwich of the Year thread going at all times?

Do they make a great veggie sandwich here too for the teetolers ?????

        1. re: kevin

They do a kale salad for the folks who think they'll live forever if they just eat "healthy" all the time...

    2. Sounds incredible. I haven't heard anything about this place.
      How's the meat price/quality?
Is it Lindy and Grundy's level?

The sandwich was expensive - a shade under 12 bucks.

Cannot speak to the meat price/quality nor compare to to L/G, not my areas of expertise. But, I get the distinct sense they are trying to "carve" out a spot that is high on the price chain by deploying the buzz-words and buzz-practices of quality/organic/humanely raised to justify the prices. Bargain hunters should probably stick to Stater Bros.

      2. I missed out on that (!!!), but had the steak sandwich that was good. Had a brief tour of the place too when they first opened - very promising in general. Porchetta is going to be available full-time, but they'll mix up the preparation (they're getting whole hogs in weekly).

there are on my picture (of the sandwiches).

Per CB above the $12 range can be expected...

            2. Is there anywhere to sit and eat or is it just to-go?

                  Thanks.

              2. split the korobuta pork sandwich on rye and the italian salumi sandwich with someone today. both fantastic! if i was going alone and had to choose one it would be the salumi - every aspect was spot on, and the roll it was on was perfect!

I had the salami last week - it too was great.
My parents did not love the tri-tip.
I am crazy for their Farro Salad too.

                  1. re: Ciao Bob

will try the farro salad next time! thx for the tip!

                2. Do they deliver?

Not at this point in time but maybe they will get signed up with one of local delivery services like Eat 24 or GrubHub at some point. We can only dream.

I had no idea what "east side of SaMO" meant - city or the 30 mile long Santa Monica Blvd.

Just thought I'd share for others.
