Great Sarasota restaurants?

I'll be traveling with my family to Sarasota to see the Orioles' spring training. We'll only be there for a few days, so we won't have many meals in town. I'd appreciate any recommendations . . .

  1. The closest great food is Mariscos Azteca. That's on 12th at Tuttle, at the eastern end of the Ed Smith Stadium property. The restaurant does a fine job with the standard Mexican restaurant offerings, but my main reason for loving this place is the chance to eat delicious and unusual food.

For example, their shrimp tacos are wonderful. Their tortilla soup is very nice although doesn't reach the heights of my faves like...

Coctel (AKA Cocktail) of Shrimp, Octopus and Oysters
    Fish in VeraCruzana sauce
    Mariscada Azteca (think Mexican cioppino)
    Cochinita Pibil (Marinated pork)

My dessert favorites, flan and churros, are on every Mexican restaurant menu, but this place really gets them right.

Here's the link to the menu:

Incidentally, there are several other restaurants in this same shopping center: a Peruvian restaurant, a BBQ place, and tavern-type place. I haven't been to any of these. I keep meaning to try the Peruvian place particularly, but I always get tempted by the daily specials at Mariscos Azteca. Most recently, they offered mixed seafood in the Vera Cruz sauce I mentioned above. (The rings of calamari in this dish were as tender as possible. No rubber bands come out of Mariscos kitchen!)
