Solo dining in Montreal

Will be visiting on business and would like to "eat well" even though I'll be dining alone. Do any of the better restaurants (french, seafood, bistro or otherwise) offer bar-side (counter) seating for dinner or provide an otherwise comfortable environment for solo dining?

Many restaurants along St. Laurent have bar-side seating. If you like a hip atmosphere, try Mediterraneo on St. Laurent near Sherbrooke. The food is fairly good and there is interesting "people watching" to pass the time.
