Paczki Day 2014

It will soon be that time of year again and I'd like to be prepared. Looking for some suggestions as to where to find the best paczkis in Toronto and surrounding area. The only place I can think of is Amadeus in Thornhill.

  1. I didn't know there was a "day" but I googled it and I see that they are associated with Fat Tuesday (which is March 4th this year).

I had the one at Longo's this past weekend and I didn't think it was that great. However, the mini "bombe" they had was pretty good!

BTW, these are jam filled doughnuts for people that may not know what Paczki's are

    1. Any day celebrating delicious donuts sounds like a great day to me! :D

      1. Starsky's always have large selections of Paczki from the Sweet Temptations Polish bakery. I like the rose jam one personally

        1. All the Polish grocery stores and bakeries on Roncy sell them.

I'd also recommend the filled donuts at VON, even if the fillings aren't the typical Polish fillings of plum/rosehip/apricot/raspberry.

This weeks flyers shows Fortinos and RCSS both have them (maybe other Loblaw stores too?). RCSS flyer shows 4 for $3.00 and says "baked in store"

Didn't try them but I might give them a shot.

If you're in the west end, head to Starsky's.
Surprised the Fortino's flyer would say baked in store, because paczki are fried. I did see paczki at a Superstore last year but they didn't look as good as the typical version at the Polish store I visit in London.
Hopefully Von will remember it's Paczki Day on Fat Tue after Valentine's Day is over.
