T & R Taste of Texas BBQ in Sacramento

Has anyone tried T & R Taste of Texas BBQ? This blog piece describes the ribs as smothered in molasses-type sweet sauce which would be decidedly non-Texas style. But at least T & R seems to cook over wood.

  1. What do you want to know? I've been there twice, and all I can remember was dry and flavorless meats.

      Ugh, that doesn't sound promising.

    2. Wow, I lived in the neighborhood from 1973 to 1977, and from the address I think there used to be a sausage factory there, Clauss and Krauss. Anyway, it was a rough area back in the 70s, but has likely gentrified a bit by now.

      1. I drive by it often as I live nearby, and have thought of stopping. If you try it, please leave your impressions.

I used to live a few blocks away at 32nd and Broadway. I'd go in a minute if I still lived there.

        2. Sooooo...the sauce is good, if sweet. Tri-tip is meh, chicken is awesome, hot link is pretty good. Still haven't had the ribs yet. Canned green beans, decent potato salad, mac and cheese is wall paste. We only live a few blocks away and it smells divine so we go even though it isn't spectacular. Definitely hit up Momo's Meat Market on Broadway and 58th for better MEAT.
