ISO one night (not sushi) for best fresh fish, vegetables even locally sourced. We'd prefer to not drive and stay in Wailea area. Ambiance is a bonus.

Also, best lounge drink/happy hour pupus in Wailea?
Is it worth hotel hopping for drinks pupus to see other places?

Monkeypod Kitchen is explicitly "locavore." They do a good job on their nightly fresh fish specials. Casual ambiance, patio but no ocean view. Boisterous and with live music. Make a reservation. Gets busy.

Agree about being near the water, but I do like Monkeypod Kitchen. You may want to have dinner near the water and hit up Mokeypod afterward for dessert. Their homemade pies are truly delicious. Or you could consider it for lunch.

Their menu features only cream pies, BTW. Banana cream pie, Kula strawberry cream, etc.

I loved Ka'ana Kitchen in the new Andaz Maui hotel. They also have very good cocktails at their bar. Just went in December.
