Harry's Blue Bell Tap Room

Bacchus101 Feb 14, 2014 07:43 AM

Trusted friends, food industry and restaurant owners themselves, have reported that they enjoyed their first visit to Harry's. Nice place, good location, and a nicely executed eclectic menu. No first hand knowledge but we will give it a try near term. Any one been there?

Just checked Harry's Hospitality Group site...the DE one...no mention of the Blue Bell joint.

Where in blue bell is this place? Did it replace something else?

This is the shoppes at village square shopping center, where you also have Radicce among other restaurants.

Yes it is. It is a small restaurant with a good variety of beers. The friends had the burger and fish taco. Both were deemed very good. Being a Tap Room I would not expect it to have much more than drinkable (quite subjective) wine, but that is only a guess.

I am looking forward to reviews. I hope they have decent wine....

We went last night. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders did a good job and were personable. We had fried mozzarella with marinara, which we enjoyed. I had the fried grouper sandwich, which unfortunately had been fried to within an inch of its life, so it was pretty dry. Fries for both of our dishes came out cool. My husband said his burger was good. It was very busy, and they are new, so I'll give it another try. The menu is interesting, focused on bacon.

What sort/number of beers do they have on tap or by the bottle? Doesn't seem to say on the website.

When I pushed it, nothing appeared. But I guess they fixed it.

I think I counted about 15 -20 craft beers on tap. They also have a nice selection by the bottle.

The selection is pedestrian ... PJ whelihans across the street has a superior selection and Capones is 5 minutes away.

You're right. Welihans has a larger selectiion but they carry big brand beers (Coors, Miller, Bud, etc.) and they should, it's a sports bar. Harry's only carries craft beer. 15 on tap just checked the website. That's a great selection. Don't get me wrong I like Whelihans too but they are two entirely different places. Love Capones! That's a great beer menu too!

I wouldn't call that list "pedestrian". It's better than 98% of the bars in the 'burbs. But I don't doubt there are much better lists in the area too.

                    Good slogan if true:

"Your home for great beer, bacon and deliciousness."

PJ Whelihans across the street from them has a better beer list, and if you are in that area you might as well go to Capones.

I wanted so badly to like this place but was underwhelmed. Buffalo shrimp came out cold and overcooked. Burger was decent but also overcooked. Bacon on burger was great though. Fries were also cool as other poster mentioned.

Based on subsequent comments it appears my "trusted" friends hit a "good night" or "good menu items" on their visit. Sorry to hear the negatives but good to go in with the correct expectations.

LOVE THIS PLACE! Have been three times and it has been open for only about 2 weeks! The food is unbelievable - wide range - spectacular salads, the spinach salad is so freaking good - to the Krispy Kreme burger! The hawg wings are insane! You can eat light or heavy and leave completely satisfied.
It is a craft beer joint. So many to choose from and always updating. I have only heard great things. Just read some negatives comments and am so surprised. New favorite place!
It is a casual atmosphere, great drinks, great food. The people are so friendly too!

By the way...not one to ever write a review.
I happened to google Harry's Blue Bell Taproom to find the menu. Wanted to study it. Pathetically, I do that, with all restaurants, to look forward to what I will order for the next time. I saw this under my search and pulled it up to read.
I was stunned at the negative reviews, so much so, it lead me to leave my positive opinion.
