The Taste semi 2/13 spoilage

Is there a culinary scale, if so, is chili and corn bread higher on that scale than sloppy Joe and fried avocados? I think they're equally low brow.

I'm okay with the finalists. I would rather see Sarah than Louise though. Louise sounds like she smokes 3 packs a day and she makes food that I don't want to eat.

I doubt Marina will din but I like her attitude. She'll do what she wants, and she doesn't make excuses. She did make fun of the chain smoking taco lady.

  1. Haven't watched this episode yet, just stopped by to see who got booted. Is it sad I have watched all the episodes up til now and I'm drawing a blank on who the hell louise is

the food artist lady maybe Sarah was the one we all thought was lesbian who wasn't, is that right

Marina for the win .... no, i'm sure it will be one of the boys.

Louise is the food artist - apparently a former bartender.

Sarah is the lesbian looking hetero.

Marina promises to pull something completely novel out of her ass for the finals and I can't wait to see what it is.

    2. So it's Lee, Jeff, Marina and Louise. Also would have liked to have seen Sarah there. I really thought that someone from Ludo's kitchen would go, making it a three-mentor battle. Oh well.

Jeff was BEYOND IRRITATING at him wanting more gold stars than Lee. Talk about seeing who could pee in the snow longer....

At this point, Marina or Lee for the win. Although if Marina wins, Ludo will be even more insufferable. So hopefully Lee wins.

I actually love Ludo. It think most of that pouting and angst is for the cameras. And AB is hysterical.

It's Marcus Samuelson who is driving me crazy. Someone dress the man so he doesn't look like a circus clown.

        1. re: chicgail

Oh, I agree Ludo's histrionics is mostly for the camera. It just gets tiring after awhile.

And I guess Marcus has always dressed that way when in street clothes - I really don't even see it anymore unless it's a glaringly strong color.

          1. re: chicgail

He really does look like a fool. Not the best way to brand yourself.

            1. re: chicgail

I only watch the show for Ludo. Not only is he sexy as hell I love the French.

              1. re: chicgail

I love the way Marcus dresses! He looks fresh off the runway....and not many people can pull that off. He's one who can.

              2. re: LindaWhit

Yes, Jeff lived up to his prissy ass whiner title I gave him last week. " I have to have more stars than Lee" /rolleyes

              3. I forgot to say, I really didn't think there was any chance they were going to send Lee or Marina home.

                1. I dozed off and woke up twice thinking, this is still on?

Marina has kind of fallen flat for me, but I'd still take her over the others and Louise second. The boys just need to go somewhere else for a while.

The show is waaaay too long. Too much time listening to people sit around and talk about nothing very interesting. Please have pity and cut it down to a single hour. Plenty of time. Really.

                    1. re: chicgail

I agree with you. I'm not really all that interested. I do have a couple of complaints, however. I don't like the format all that much, but if the chefs are going to be color coordinated, I wish the judges would have that color in front of them. I can't remember which contestant is on which team. I suppose that's because I am not paying enough attention to the show.

                      1. re: John E.

I never noticed that they were color coordinated.

                        1. re: ennuisans

Their names on the black aprons are blue, yellow, green, and magenta. As I recall, Nigella was yellow, Marcus green, Tony blue, and Ledo magenta. If I'm correct, I don't know why because I got them confused a lot. When they were doing the blind tasting, it would have been helpful to be reminded about which cooks were on which team.

Frankly, I would enjoy a two-hour weekly Top Chef, but I'm quite sure an hour is long enough for LindaWhit.

                  2. what was anthony thinking with the ingredients he put on the cart for the first challenge? That was supposed to be doing him a favor?

Except for the Spam episode AB has had one goof after another, to the point I was convinced he was trying to throw one or two team challenges. It's been "What was I thinking? That was totally stupid of me" over and over. Then again he's the only one who is ever shown having any kind of specific strategy when it comes to ingredients.

Maybe he wishes he was the one doing the cooking.
