What are the Most Happening Places to Hang Out in NYC

l
Lovelyday Feb 13, 2014 11:40 AM

My sister and friend like to have monthly catchups looking for energy, sexy decor, quality drinks/food, sexy ambiance places.

Restaurants, lounges, bars , hotel/bars (No nIghtclubs)

Thanks for your suggestions and I'll let you know what we try.

i meet the most interesting people eating at the bar at Jean-Georges (Naugutine). I do not know if that makes the place sexy.

You do read Eater NY, don't you?

Of all the spots on that list, Bodega Negra is probably the most appropriate spot to spend sexy time with one's sibling.

"... probably the most appropriate spot to spend sexy time with one's sibling."

I'm sure you meant that sentiment differently, JM, than it reads in fact. At least I hope so.

Ha, I'm not the one looking for a hotspot with a sexy ambiance to catch up with my sister! Trailer Park Lounge probably attracts a similar clientele.

What is the dress code like at Bodega? Is it Beauty & Essex-esque, or a bit more toned down? Thanks!

It's not the location-I hated food, noise and owner's attitude at Charlie Bird.

When they first opened I went w two cooks who work in higher end restaurants. The one dish I remember -the scallops were just so awful in taste and texture and served in 1/4 inch slices- I told owner/manager about it. We couldn't believe he looked at us and just walked away as if to dismiss our constructive criticism. As we walked out he made it a point to turn his back towards us-never will go back to that kind of service! And mind you, I am not a complainer unless something is really awful or if you don't give me a bowl of rice when requested!

Beauty and Essex was a "thing" for a while.

Can you sit at the bar at Ciccio? I heard the food is great.

If you would venture uptown try Barawine in Harlem.
