North Bakery (Providence, RI)

Looks like the folks behind North in Providence are opening a "non-traditional American bakery" on the corner of West Fountain and Battey Streets just down the road from the restaurant. Kelly Dull will be heading up the project. In addition to baked goods, they'll be serving daytime coffee from local roasters. It sounds like it will be an off-beat bakery, and I'm really looking forward to checking it out. If North is anything to go by, it should be pretty exciting. It's set to open sometime this spring.

  1. Yay, thanks for the info. Can't wait for their take on baked goodies!

    1. Thanks for the good news.

If North Bakery is anything like the restaurant, it will be a fine but quirky addition to the bakery/coffee scene in Providence.

According to North’s website wedding cakes will be among the bakery’s offerings! How exciting is that.

Looking forward to its spring opening.

Just had the cheddar scone with scallions and roasted jalapenos. Wow!

Finally found myself up by the North Bakery today. Grabbed a lemon and rosemary scone, oat and nut bar, and a dan dan hand pie. We sampled them all--absolutely delicious, and the new space looks great. The scone in particular was buttery and flavorful.

We loved the potato and onion hand and the dan dan pie. In fact as a meat lovers, the vegetarian option was so satisfying. Tried the chocolate chip cookie, loved the salt flakes on top that cuts the sweetness. Wasn't too keen on the chocolate n earl grey muffin, bit dry. Lemon scone was liked more than the corn one.

Agree on the chocolate and earl grey muffin. I was excited to try it and found it very dry - not enjoyable at all. Chocolate Chip cookie was great!

        2. Hi All! I'm heading to Providence next weekend and definitely want to hit this up as I love the food at North. What's the bakery like? Can you sit with coffee and your pastry or is it more of a takeout place? Thanks!

Pretty understated space at the moment. You can stand at the counter over near one of the windows but there is nowhere to sit right now. However, this should in no way deter you from going and devouring some amazing baked goods. Enjoy and good luck deciding what to try!

Thanks so much! I've been drooling over their instagram account for the past ten minutes. I'm definitely hitting this up on Saturday during the day. I'm trying to have a lighter lunch since I'm going to Birch for dinner on Saturday night. Nick's for brunch on Sunday. I love visiting Providence! Soze45, any place you'd recommend to take our coffee and goodies from North Bakery per chance? We'll be on foot. :) Can always just walk back to the hotel (the Dean). Thanks!
