Dinner at 12th Avenue Grill

curiousgeo Feb 9, 2014 07:01 PM

Finally had a chance to try 12th Avenue Grill in its new location at the former Victoria Inn site. Although I really liked the coziness and atmosphere of the smaller original restaurant, the new place is larger, fresh and appealing decor wise. The restaurant was almost full, so It was a bit noisy, but not uncomfortable the way Roy's in Hawaii Kai can be with it low ceiling.

After a round of drinks, we ordered the smoked ahi bruschetta, the mixed green salad, a small plate of pork ravioli for my wife and the grilled Jidori chicken for me. Everything was tasty and well done.

The smoked ahi was a delicious appetizer, my wife and I joked how it was an awfully expensive tuna salad on bread. The mixed greens were fresh and tasty, just how a good salad should be served. Her ravioli was good, but nothing outstanding. The grilled chicken, served on a bed of spinach and mashed potato was excellent. The chicken had a nice char, was cooked to the bone and still juicy and flavorful with a delicious sauce.

Service was prompt and professional with just the right amount of local friendliness. We enjoyed our meal here and definitely plan on returning again soon.

    LOL, I also joked about the most expensive - but by far best - tuna sandwiches I ever had.

      i always chuckle when i think how cramped the old place was
      and then think about how much space was wasted in the new space

        how so Macsak, I didn't notice a lot of wasted space, but I didn't really look at anything beyond the dining room.

          tables far apart
          booth configurations in the area between the makai windows and the bar looked unorganized to me

          private room looked great, however
