Great Taqueria in Tallahassee

  • 2

We have been meaning to try Los Reyes on Apalachee Parkway (outside of Capital Circle, next door to Jim Bennet's Plumbing) for a while.
Finally made it there last night and were more than satisfied. The place is a gem of authenticity. Filled with Mexican decor and very clean there is one person who does the serving and the food prep. They DO NOT give you a basket of fried tortilla chips and salsa. The tortillas are house made and very tasty. The prices are very reasonable. We enjoyed everything we tried--pork stew, pork tacos and chicken huarache(?). She says that the huaraches are from her home in Mexico and this is the only place in Tally where you can get them. They were my favorite thing along with the beans which really tasted like beans.
They have Negra Modello and Corona in bottles.

Our tab--including 2 beers was $23!

Check it out!

  1. Just saw your post. That's across town from us. But I've been hoping to stop by if I'm in the area. It's the type of Mexican place I tend to favor. Keep missing it from the airport because I forget and turn right onto Cap Circ. So thanks for the report. Do you recall if they had gorditas on the menu? Haven't had a huarache in a couple of years. Last time I was in FLL, I missed getting to Dona Raquels.

I didn't see gorditas but the "blackboard" menu had quite a few things on it she was preparing for the next day.
