Sunday breakfast near Benjamin hotel?

We are staying at the Benjamin hotel (125 East 50th Street) next Saturday night and have seen multiple complaints online about poor service in the National Bar and Dining Room. Any suggestions about where to get Sunday breakfast nearby (not brunch--we get up early)? Needs to offer more than just pastries (gluten-free here). Thanks so much!

  1. good, decent coffee shop a few doors down on 50

    1. We usually always stay at the Benjamin and the room service breakfast was excellent...I ask the front desk if they have any breakfast coupons, and they have been gracious, since its a pricey tab.
From the pillow concierge to the in suites, this a fab NYC hotel.
The Waldorf is across the street and a coffee shop down the street.

      1. Thanks for the vote of confidence about the room service. Really, was surprised at how many people have talked about awful service in the restaurant on multiple forums.

Do you recall the name of the coffee shop nearby? Have you had breakfast at the Waldorf or the coffee shop?

Had drinks at the Waldorf but friends enjoyed the breakfast.
Coffee shop..have no idea of name but close.
Surprised about reviews..Benjamin is used by a lot of the bookers and we've had great meals/room service..

I believe this was the former NBC studio before 30 Rock.

Make sure you go have drinks at the Campbell Apartment at Grand Central.

The Smith doesn't open early on weekends though.

Sorry--at least 3 of the four of us who will be traveling next weekend would be considered early birds (smile). I have been up since 5 am today and hubbie just got up (7:20 am). Enjoying a leisurely breakfast with the NY Times is hubbie's idea of a good time on a Sunday in NYC.

            2. Well, if you don't mind walking a bit in this weather, then Madison on 1st/53rd should work.
