Favorite Burger in Santa Barbara?

The nice thick juicy kind.... with some good french fries to go with it.

  1. Good question. We like the one at CROCODILE when we want a good "dress up" burger meal. I am waiting to try the one at CAFE STELLA, because it looks so good in their advertising photo, but haven't made it there yet.

Certainly the very best that we found in town was HUNGRY CAT Pug Burger but it finally became too inconsistent so we stopped going there. Haven't been able to replace it yet, because when it was good it was totally top of the game. But I am trying.

Another one on my list is the lunch menu EL ENCANTO burger too - to get the view and chance to see the make-over and walk out of there not too wounded in the pocket book.

One hears the PARADISE burger is one of the best in town and it is plenty good but not our own favorite. The bun has to last through the whole burger and, it failed to hold up which gave it some points off.

And we recently got back from JALAMA BEACH just for the drive for their burger which is also very good, but not totally the best for the wider area.

I'll look forward to other reports because sometimes you just can't beat a good burger and if it is local and easy to repeat, so much the better.

    1. I've eaten at Burger Bus off and on. It's an old mini school bus converted to a roach coach. The burger is a 1/3 lb partty and quite good. The sides however are their only down side. They have sweet potato fries, which you either like or don't. also offered are fried onion petals for lack of a better description and fried pickle chips. The batter on the later two is a good beer bater.

      1. Try the burgers at The Nugget in Summerland just south of Montecito

        1. Our favorite in SB (and almost anywhere else) is the Lucky's burger in Montecito. We always eat in the bar and get the gorgonzola burger with amazing fries. Cesar salad is a good starter and excellent people watching!

Do you realize that McDonalds and Wendy's are on that list?

              Good information.... :-)

Yup, I saw people registered in on fast food burgers as well as some of the better known restaurant versions- this is a local based review site; not necessarily a foodie site. And it does leave off a few too. Just covering the water-front on this topic incase any of us chowhounders missed one.

However, I do have to admit a certain fondness myself to the MacDonald's Fish Sandwich, fries and coke as my go-to comfort food, particuarly when traveling too long abroad. Amazing consistency around the world for this combo.

Sometimes it is the first and last American meal we have when flying in and out of LAX to points more exotic. (blush)
