A Room with a View

We need a sticky note on this link...the U/T names the Top 25 view dining venues in San Diego. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/f...

HOW many time do we get asked this question :-)!!! It's a pretty decent list. There are a couple of clunkers in there as far as food, but I think all of them are pretty good in the view category

  1. Went through this and found it quite interesting. Great photos.

Humphrey's! Now *that's* a place I rarely think of. I do love the view there, but I have no idea what the food is like these days.

Never had a decent meal there but it got a couple of good reviews about a year (or so) ago after they had brought in a new chef (still not optimistic, having worked with the owners on other aspects of their business).

    2. I'm interested in checking out the new hotel in IB (same owner that brought us Tower 23). Hoping to keep an open mind about the Cohn's new resto.

I ate at Sea 180 shortly after they opened. In fact, they were still working on the hotel. It's okay. The food is typical of most Cohn restaurants. The hotel was quite nice, but, having lived in IB back in the day, I'm having a hard time seeing it as a destination for many tourists wanting more upscale digs.

      2. Don't laugh, but I had lunch at Tobey's 19th Hole today, in the Balboa Park Golf Course. The chili was delish and the view of the golf course was beautiful.

This is one of my fave places in SD that I usually go to...nothing has changed since 1976!

        2. Vintana for view? It is renown for it's view of Dick's (sporting goods).

I was wondering about that one as well. While it is a pretty restaurant, the view is of Escondido suburban malls.

          2. I think there needs to be a separation between outside and indoors. For example; Brockton Villa, great view foul odor.

            1. Southpaw is an interesting selection.

I suppose if you wanted a view of a minor baseball team, it's a great choice.

              1. Los Pelicanos, Rosarito

                Splash!, Rosarito

                My casa, Bahia Descanso, Rosarito.

I see the ocean every morning and all day from my kitchen office, but we are not serving dinners here or taking boarders though, except for family.

+1 for La Fonda and the Lighthouse,at Alisitos, Km 58.

I know the view is world class great, and I don't know how clean the rooms are, or how good the food at each establishment is these days, but I am sure they still delivering strong cocktails and they have multiple flat screen TVs tuned to sports events.

Don't know if you ladies have seen this little video (in Espanol) but the views to open and close it are pretty awesome :-)...and the food photos are half bad either

Uh oh. Now you've done it. The Negotiator from Priceline is on to your Rosarito casa...
