Dutch & Co. or Heritage for Solo Diner [Richmond]?

ipsedixit Feb 6, 2014 01:45 PM

I will probably have a chance for one meal by myself in Richmond.

Between Dutch & Co. and Heritage, which would you choose?

Dining solo, and sitting at the bar.

Thank you.

Heritage, hands down. Not even close.

Dutch and Co is terribly overrated and has one of the strangest menus I've seen in a very long time and it's not well executed.

    Heritage rocks.

The menu is constantly changing, but have had wonderful short ribs and gnocchi. Let the bartender guide you with cocktails...they have true bartenders, not just people mixing drinks.

We haven't been to Dutch yet, but loved Heritage! The pimento croquettes and the pork "fries" were fantastic. At our last visit there was a house made burratta which was excellent. They make their own pasta and the bolognese was perfect.

Dutch cannot hold a candle to Heritage. We had one of the worst meals ever (at any price point) at Dutch in December and the menu is terrible as well.

Aside from the propaganda machine in the media that promotes certain chefs and restaurateurs as their "darlings", I don't get the accolades for Dutch.

I'd go with Heritage too, though I haven't been there in a while. I tried Dutch & Co. once and it was OK. I'd give it another shot. They're trying, but I agree that some places try to hard to be different. I usually reserve my criticism for the worst offenders, the guys who call it in. That said, Heritage is the clear choice

First meal I had at Dutch and co. was meh. The last 2 they've really found their stride, and it was great. So while I get e bad reviews, there is a reason for the hype.
