I think thats because it is intended to represent the old non-pizza portion of DiFara's menu, which i understand looked pretty standard for NY pizzerias.
My cousins grew up down the block, and while I havent yet made it to MD Kitchen, they all fondly remember the shrimp parm (now looks like its called shrimp marinara) as their favorite non-pie menu option.
Have you seen this?
I have not been back to MD kitchen. Also, for what its worth regarding my opinion,I am staunchly in the "DiFara is among the best pizza in the world" camp. I go twice a year to the private pizza parties and it is heaven. All that is good about the place, the pizza, Dom and Maggie. None of the bad, crowds and mess.
