Weekend in NYC, need one cheap breakfast

littlecmad Feb 3, 2014 08:31 AM

Only in NYC Fri afternoon to Sunday evening, so we're going to try to go to Union Square Cafe for Brunch one morning, but for the other morning, we'd like something priced cheap. I thought about Eataly or Magnolia or another Bakery. OR any other suggestions? Would like patries, or good breakfast sandwich OR Maybe crepes? We are staying near Times Square. Thanks!

I really like the breakfast sandwiches and egg plates at Taboonette in Greenwich Village/Union Square. Inexpensive, in a takeout setting.

Went to Magnolia and I must say I think the Peanut Butter Cupcakes with Peanut Butter icing are the best! It's a shame I only got to have half of it. It was the last one and I bit into a huge ball of white thread. The manager was kind and gave us two peanut butter with chocolate frosting to take home. I'll definitely go back again next time I visit NYC.

Magnolia doesn't have much of a breakfast-y offering....

Doughnut plant on w 23rd, just take the a/c/e train, good coffee there too

Or pick a bagel on 8th ave near 52nd is the closest good bagel shop, egg sandwiches and such- but crappy coffee

Doughnutplant sounds great! Is it going to be insane on a Saturday or Sunday morning? What time should we try to get there?

If there is a line at Donut Plant it will move quickly. Other than donuts and coffee I don't think they have breakfast items.

If you can get away from Times Sq go to one of the many "diners" in Manhattan. Most will offer a good basic bacon and egg breakfast for a reasonable price.
There are several on 9th Ave.
