Asheville - King James Public House
We went on Tuesday. It's a small place and it was completely full except for two seats at the bar so we got lucky there. Great feel to the place...dark, good music, energetic but not too loud. The cocktail list was one of the most inventive I've seen in town. My choice was a Mount Gay, St Germain, lime, agave, Sriracha and blackberry concoction and it was awesome. We opted for small plates - tempura cheese, flounder, arugula salad, scotch egg, and a hammock terrine, the latter three being the hits. The cheese on the fried plate needed to be sharper and the flounder was a little overcooked and seemed to be absent of the lobster butter that was advertised as an accompaniment. Still, we will return in a heartbeat to try more cocktails and noshes - we live in the neighborhood so this is a great addition to our side of town. I still prefer the food at Ambrozia but really wish it had a cozy, cool vibe like this place does!
