Need recommendations for restaurants while I'm in town for a convention

I'm going to be in San Diego for a Friday night and Saturday night. I'm traveling with a friend, and we're both pretty adventurous eaters, so I'm willing to entertain any suggestions. I realize this is a significant handicap, but we will be near the convention center/gas lamp district, so location is important (neither of us has a car during the trip, but obviously taxis are an option).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Here are some walking-distance suggestions, no taxi required:

    Blind Burro (Mexican)

    Basic (Pizza)

Dobsons (American; try the mussel bisque)

    Chopahn (Afgan)

    Cafe Chloe (French)

    Tender Greens (Salads)

+1 on this list. And I'll add Lion's Share (cab ride), Cafe Istanbul (walking), and El Salvadoreno (2800 Imperial Ave, so that's a cab ride).

I would do either some or all of these.

      - The aforementioned Lion's Share (Marina District)
      - Pizzeria Mozza (Marina Disrict)
      - Shino Sushi (Little Italy)

You might want to add to the list and give Encore Champagne Bar & Dining Room a shot....recently opened and pretty good food (tapas, shared plates, and entrees).

Adding Cowboy Star to the list and drinks at Noble Experiment. Maybe dinner in Little Italy at Bencotto, a nice walk or a cheap taxi ride. Azuki Sushi in Banker's Hill is a cheap taxi ride away and I would suggest omakase there.
