Going to be near Chinatown this evening with my kiddo and would like to grab an early dinner of dumplings. Top rec's?

  1. Dumpling Cafe. Don't be fooled by "Gourmet Dumpling House", whose Sichuan dishes far outshine their dumplings.

    1. The dim sum places do an excellent selection of dumplings. I prefer the cartless spots: Windsor, Bubor Cha Cha, Great Taste.

My favorite place for XLB, a/k/a soup dumplings, described as "mini juicy buns with pork or pork & crab", is Dumpling Cafe. The broader Taiwanese menu there is excellent as well.

Ironically, most of the dumplings at Gourmet Dumpling House aren't that great (its Chinese name is more accurate, something like South North Coastal Flavors).

The Northern-style pan-fried dumplings are very good at China King (has it been renamed to King Fung Garden yet?) and New Shanghai.
