they make what they sell, you can watch the cheesemaker's at work and the mac n cheese is where I learned how to turn an ordinary cheese burger into a masterpiece of mac n cheese topped meat magic. And so much more! Read on.

Saved! Thanks. We're regular visitors to Seattle and have probably visited them in Pike Place Market but missed the name.

Beecher's bar/restaurant is perfect for after work wine and snacks too...!

Beechers sells other producer's cheeses as well and usually at a much higher cost than other shops. i have stopped going there all together.

Murray's is great. Ideal on 1st Ave deserves mention. Lucy's Whey is a small, well curated shop with very passionate staff. they don't have the variety, but they do rotate their selection often enough to remain interesting.

the cheese case at Epicerie Boulud has been steadily shrinking. sadly, the shop has changed a lot since it opened, especially their service, which is now on par with a bodega.

I wish I could go more often. I only go for their cheeses, I can buy cheeses by other cheese folk plenty of other places. I like the vibe of both locations and I am a big fan of their menu. Sorry to hear you aren't.

Murray's is great, everyone loves Murray's. I've just been there so many times I suppose over the awe.

But thank you for your adding Epi Bou. Can never have enough recommendations; especially those nooks and cranny type cheese shops found in NY neighborhoods and inside businesses doing more than cheese cases. It's easy to miss or overlook those.

Bedford Cheese opened in Manhattan, too. i don't get over there often, but it's a nice shop.

In second place, you drive to Bklyn.

We don't DRIVE to Brooklyn (public transpo) but thanks again. Getting in the mood so much my stomach is rumbling :)

Murray's is hands down the best.

+1 murrays but dean and delucca's cheese section is also great.

            3. Wow, was *I* ever having a senior moment yesterday! DiPalo's is our hands-down, forever and ever amen, favorite NYC cheese shop. Their gorgonzola dolce alone is worth the trip and the line.

Actually for cured meats I've stopped in but funny, never for cheese. It's always nice when you can draw upon some favorites though. I spend time hunting down goodies but I'm loyal once found.

Oh, definitely get the meats also. And crackers, French lentils, etc. :)

              2. DiPalo's, Bklyn Larder and Murray's

                1. +1 for murray's
                  Ideal cheese in e midtown:
                  http://www.idealcheese.com/index.aspx
Fairway on uws- if you go when they aren't crazy busy the cheese man is really helpful. When they're busy, no so much.
Todaro Bros- smaller collection but some fairly obscure ones including goats milk feta, very passionate eager to help cheese guy (he's the indian one, the tall white guy behind the counter with white hair is not so helpful
