Super Bowl Take Out Thoughts

Tikitamra Jan 28, 2014 08:35 AM

My Seattle born husband and I are trying to figure out what to have on Super Bowl Sunday. I would usually use the opportunity to find some interesting morsels to prepare. That said, I've had the flu and am still sick with a cold. The hubby is not much better. So, we were thinking of finding something good to pick up and bring home to nosh on. Any thoughts? We like everything.

Waters catering has yummy food, with a number of healthy options and they do lots of take out. Don't know where you live, but they have a number of locations. They are a bit expensive but awesome quality.

K sandwiches in Clairemont area for sandwiches, cool desserts, and variety of apps.

What part of town are you in?

That'll give us some insight as to what we should be recommending. I mean if you live in San Marcos, I'm not going to recommend a place in National City.

Sorry. I thought I was already TMI with my health report. :-) We are in Pacific Beach. Willing to travel 15-20 minutes in any direction for something worthy. Even something I could pick up on Saturday and reheat on Sunday would work. Waters is a good suggestion and I will look and see what they have for the weekend. Anything else?

I would go to Pancho Villas in Normal Heights and get some prepared mexican dishes...pretty good stuff there perfect for something like Super Bowl.

Waters won't be open on Sunday and not sure how well a lot of their stuff reheats (good food though).

You can also go to Siesel's (Iowa meat farms) down on Morena Blvd. They make some good stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, roast chickens, dips, etc. I do a lot tailgate shopping there. The house-made brats and bourbon sausages are fantastic.

Waters (Bay Park Location) is open 11am-3pm on Sundays. Is also, relatively, easy to get to from PB.

              I'll second Siesel's.

I would go to Carnitas Snack Shack. Call ahead.

I also enjoy Saffron for good take-out. Stick to their whole Thai grilled chicken combo, and it's a good deal ($16.00).

Go to Costco, hit all the sample stations, it'll be a premium snacking day there! just kidd'n! How about Taco Surf on Mission, great stuff. Latin Chef on Garnet in PB is also a good choice.

Get some chowder and buy those La Brea Bakery sourdough rounds and do the cheesy chowda bread bowl.
Get a 12 pk of 12 Man Pale Ale..

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions. Siesels is our standard fare. Anyone who comes to our house expects a bourbon sausage! I think Saffron is the winner! I'll get the picnic basket and that should work for the day! Thanks
