Looking for a Wonderful Japanese Restaurant in the West or East Village

A friend of mine - who is an artist from Germany - is visiting me this week. She is very creative and loves great food. Looking for suggestions for a wonderful Japanese restaurant for this afternoon in the Village. Yakitori, Sushi, or any other form of Japanese Cuisine would be fine. A lovely atmosphere would be nice - but is not required. Price does not matter.
Thank you for helping us with Japanese foods!

If it has to be today (Sunday afternoon), try Cha-An in the East Village. It's a Japanese tea house.

If price doesn't matter and you want a lovely atmosphere, give Kyo Ya a call as soon as you can and see if they can squeeze you in at 6:30pm Monday (tomorrow).

Thank you, Kathryn, for your awesome recommendations!
I'm booking a reservation for Kyo Ya.

        2. Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya is available today at 3-4:30.

I'll second Blure Ribbon Izakaya, second Kyo Ya ( try walk-on and sit at the bar)
            Soba koh

            1. for the Monday dinner, consider Sobakoh in the East Village on 5th St

Thank you Simon! I will definitely go to Sobakoh in the
                East Village.

              2. Soto or Neta in W.V. Just go with the omakase.
