Korean white ginseng root?

Can anyone recommend a reliable place in Manhattan where it's possible to buy Korean white ginseng roots (in root form, not in powdered or capsule form)?

Thanks very much.

  1. I have been told by ginseng growers that Wisconsin ginseng is superior to Korean. In any case, the Mall in Chinatown , 88 East Broadway , downstairs should have korean White ginseng.

I've also seen ginseng growing under shade tarps along the Fraser River in British Columbia. I suspect most of that crop gets shipped to Asia.

    2. Check the herbal medicine shops in Chinatown.

I would start with Linsister and Great China.

      1. Thank you food whisperer and ipsedixit. Someone told me that the Chinese herbal shops don't carry Korean ginseng. Although I read that Korean ginseng is stronger than Chinese I'm primarily interested in the taste, having been told that tea made from Korean roots is very delicious. Perhaps Chinese ginseng would be just as tasty.

foodwispherer is right about Wisconsin ginseng.

It is of higher quality than Asian ginseng (China, Korea, etc.), and is often exported to China because it is more highly prized over there for its potency and quality.

Sidenote: Costco sometimes has boxes of Wisconsin ginseng root for sale.

        2. Looks as though I should be shift my focus from Asia to the USA :-) I'm not near a Costco but there are a number of web listings.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge, everyone.
