Grey potatoes that taste like fish, lukewarm coffee, nice servers. though. Is there any reason to go there except for the people working there? This place really sucks.

I went there one years and years ago and could not understand how they have stayed in business this long.

BTW, why is your VG sideways?

Not sure - maybe because of the movie!

In every city there are marginal restaurants that survive on nostalgia. The I grew up eating there so it must be OK syndrome. Another one like that in Austin is just down the street - The Frisco Shop.

Answer = no. I went once about 8 years ago. Once. Didn't get sick, and do not recall any bad service. I wonder if it's the pretty sparse diner scene here. Cafe Java is decent, and since it's about 3 miles from my house has become a regular spot for a 3 scrambled egg with swiss, 2 sausage patty, rye toast and coffee breakfast. I've found nothing in Austin that beats that for a breakfast less than ten bucks. And their chili is a deep dark mahogany and delicious, but their corned beef hash sucks like it's from a can. And actually, their coffee probably is the best among those types of places in central austin. They beat the ass out of the Omelettry.

Slowcooked, you might try Pacha. Their pancakes are awesome, and they have fresh farm eggs.

I've been to cocina consuelo several times and have completely overlooked Pacha. The website is certainly funky and the pies look pretty damn good. have you had the quiches?

Everything i've had there has been pretty decent. not a huge fan of their coffee but the joint is too easily overlooked.

Haven't tried their quiche, but if you 're in the mood for something sweet, I encourage you to try their bran muffins (blueberry and raspberry are the best--they also make cranberry--all with actual fruit, not dried tiny pieces). Best bran muffins of my life.

The raspberry ricotta muffin is also delicious. It has swirls of ricotta and whole raspberries.

I always liked the pancakes. Haven't been in a couple of years, but IIRC they were ok.

that's another place whose popularity i don't get. it's so freakin' expensive for what it is (you know, eggs).

620 cafe is sooooo much better, and not as expensive (just one example, since there's an egg and i in RR)

I've been there for tacos and they were terrible. I went there at 1 a.m. for breakfast after a fun night out and it was excellent. We had eggs over easy, sausage, bacon, fruit, avocado slices, jalapenos and toast. All simple, all easy and all delicious. They are a breakfast place for me. That's it.

They (Omelettry) aren't open until 1 AM. I have wound up at Star Seeds in the middle of the night and could not remember where I was. Those days are over, however!

Oh man, I used to go to the south location stoned as hell. Don't remember the food, but the music and tabletops were metaphysical.

Well, you know...it's an Austin thing. I was drunk when I went a few months ago. Food was good, people were nice. It was a great ending to a fun evening.

The bad tacos were at Magnolia. I'll stick to Magnolia for breakfast only.
