Need one more Restaurant to fill out a spot...

Im in Paris for 10 days, have 4 restaurants booked so far.
Need a 5th, looking for one more under 50 euros per person.

The rest of the days we are winging it for dinner.

So far I have....

Au Bon Coin
Les Papilles

  1. What are the days (opening times vary), cuisine style, other criteria?
Or are there truly no criteria? Anything place open will do?

No criteria really...other than good eats.

There are a million places to go. Just flip thru the threads of the last few weeks.
Given your 4 already chosen places I'd guess you'd like Spring, Septime, Saturne or l'Ami Jean.

Thanks John, will start with these places. Best regards.

To whom is your query directed?
I have no criteria, no honor, no dog in this fight.

Parigi: so happy to see you are still on the board. We will be in Paris in October --celebrating a VERY special birthday. You are 'queen' to me (since Frenchie) and your input is sought here. Don't want to blow my retirement -- do you have one or two suggestions for our celebration? Many thanks -- and that drink offer stands.

          1. Here's an idea (and I'm not being sarcastic).

Since you have no criteria, and this board is full of great restaurants advices, do the following :

            - Open a dictionary at a random page, and point your finger at a random word.
            - Do a search for that word on Chowhound - France board.
            - Roll a dice (or if you don't have one, just search "virtual dice" on Google), go to the number of the post you just rolled.
            - Roll again. Count the restaurants mentioned on that post and go to your number.
            - Go to this restaurant.

Auxiliary : If you are really a player, just go to that restaurant, no questions asked. If you want to play it a bit safe, read the whole post just to make sure that this particular restaurant wasn't mentioned for how bad it was.

Jeez Rio; do you realize that I'd have 80% more time free each day if I used your method rather than obsessing about where to go tmrw.

I have to admit I am a bit "l'hôpital qui se fout de la charité" as we say... because I also tend to obsess about my next meals.
But I also sincerely think it could be fun once in a while to let randomness decide, especially since it's kind of hard to really end up in a bad place using this board.

I'm with you. I want too much for every meal to count. I hate to chance upon a bad meal. I am thoroughly spoiled by Hubby Poo who is a fiendish cook. Why should I go out to have chance bad or forgettable calories ?

                  1. re: Parigi

                    "Why should I go out"
Cuz it's fun to take a risk.

                    1. re: John Talbott

I was trying to explain that it was no fun to chance upon a bad meal. Must not have come across.

                      1. re: Parigi

No I just figured that's why you were ignoring eating out with me.

                        1. re: John Talbott

I'm dying to lunch with you.

I cannot believe this frivolity is passing the moderators' scrutiny. Not like the old days. But then the Vatican isn't either.
But to go back on topic - Parigi - given the fixed four are Au Bon Coin
                            Les Papilles
what breaks out of the mold?
No Japanese chef doing French cooking (lots on CH)
Nothing non-NYT-blessed - ie Toutain, Roca, BAT, Premises?
Nothing old boy/old school - Georges, Hugo Desnoyer, Lazare?

                            1. re: John Talbott

                              They must be verklempt too.
