I'm looking for a couple of good restaurant recommendations in Yorkdale/Downsview/Keele area, hopefully not one of the big-chain franchises in Yorkdale. I'm looking for options, cheap/affordable/expensive, all types of cuisine, etc. Not really that picky. I like to have different options for different occasions. So far the only good place I've been to is Dr. Laffa for Iranian/Middle-Eastern/food and shawarmas.

          +1 for Pho Mi Asia.
Also Mary Brown's Fried Chicken and Taters on Dufferin, just south of Yorkdale.

Been there and it's not bad, I personally like the one at Jane/Wilson (behind the Burger King) better.

That place is Pho Con Bo, right? I've been to both places more than 10x each. They are both great. On any given day, one may slightly outdo the other, but my money is on Pho Mi Asia with slight edge.

Darosa at Dufferin and Glencairn. Pretty good Portuguese. The chicken is excellent and you can't beat the prices.

Anoush on Dufferin (north of Sheppard) for a damn fine beef shawarma.

Churrasqueira Estrela on Keele for wonderful chicken.

Seara Bakery right next door for wonderful everything.

Pupusas are generally found in El Salvador. A thick soft corn tortilla filled with cheese, meat and/or refried beans. The ones at the back of the Latin American grocery store in Kensington Market are famous.

^exactly as food tourist describes. They are pretty inexpensive and filling. Our favourite in the city for both taste and fun service is @ Tita La Guanaca on St Clair between Oakwood and Dufferin (at Glenholme just east of Boom Breakfast).

Is Lawrence and Bathurst out of your range? United Bakers is great for soups particularly (pea, vegetable are great). I also have a funny affection for their vegetarian "chopped liver".
