I just had lunch at the new Anderson location.
Half chicken, side salad, two tortillas and a tea was around $15.
What I liked:
The girl behind the counter couldn't have been more cheerful and good natured.
The tortillas (both corn and flour) are made in house and were darn near perfect.
The chicken was large, moist and tender and the skin was nicely browned and sticky.
The produce was fresh, the lettuce crisp and no signs of sitting around.
What I didn't like:
The menu/ pricing: they seem to want you to just buy tacos. they range in price from 3.50 and up. Burritos can climb up to 8-9 bucks. a side of refried beans is 3.50 for a small and queso starts at $6.
The setup on the half chicken is odd. You order tortillas separate ($.25 each). sides are a la carte as well. they all come separate and you wind up taking up a few spots on the table with one meal. kinda awkward.
The flavor of the chicken was non-existent.
The music seemed awfully loud for lunch.
Julios, Fresa's, El Pollo Regio are all better if less convenient. This struck me as being a pretty anglo interpretation of a Mexican rotiss chicken joint. I can't bring myself to pay 3.50 for a side of beans. Especially with so many options around.
It felt like maybe the owners hadn't really done their research. They seem to be pushing the breakfast tacos pretty hard, but even those are $3 and up.
I just don't get it. They had some cool t-shirts though. seems like those got more thought than the food.
Overall it doesn't suck, it just didn't offer me anything i can't get better nearby for better value.
