Patsy's Ristorante - Fairview NJ

http://www.patsysristorante.com/

What a dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CH fourunder picked us up at Newark airport (that alone was above and beyond) and whisked us off here. I just about fainted when I counted all the dishes we ate. He had A LOT of leftovers to take home :) I can't think of a single thing that didn't measure up. My fave may have been the baked clams but that veal chop was right up there. Bob was torn between the linguini and white clam sauce and the octopus. The sauce on the side was a specialty of the house and it went with everything. Nice and spicy. Since it seems we ate bits and pieces (LARGE BITS AND PIECES) of a lot of the menu, I feel really comfortable recommending Patsy's. If in the area again, I'm hoping for a revisit. Thanks again, F

  1. Nice review....and it was my pleasure.

    Top, left to right..

    * Arugula and Fresh Mozzarella.

    * Linguini with White Clam Sauce. Four different types of clams

    * Grilled Pulpo

    * Baked Stuffed Clams, Scallops & Shrimp

    Bottom, left to right...

    * Fried shrimp and Calamari

    * Shrimp and Eggplant

    * Saute Mushrooms

    * Veal Chop Milanese

    1. First and foremost welcome home! Hope your travels were enjoyable.

      Secondly.......where is the pic of the handsome devil Four? Geeze you tease us with; "PS to others: He's very handsome :)" (not that I particularly care how handsome he is) but instead stick me with a picture of that hideous, although delicious I'm sure, Grilled Pulpo / octopus salad!?!?! No fair.

      Thirdly.......don't think I didn't notice you mocked/snubbed my offer to pick you up and take you out! (kidding, I wouldn't meet someone like me from online either)

      Fourthish........I'm just going to post some BS story about traveling soon and see how many offers I get to take me out!

      Finally.......I could make love to that veal chop. (I'll leave the rest to your imaginations)

        I had two pix of F and me and neither flattered either of us. Delete is my friend :)

        As I mentioned, we're headed to NYC in a couple of weeks...if your handlers let the leash out that far.

        Come to SF and we'll mob you!

        I ate less than one fourth of that chop! What a meal.

        The trip to Israel was amazing but the trip to Patsy's was very, very good.

          Anything involving martinis I'm game for!

          1. re: joonjoon

            How did you know I had a martini?!?!? And wine with dinner. And sambuca afterwards :)

              It's the psychic chowhound connection!

        2. Patsy's has been around a long time and has been a long time favorite of many...simply put, what they do, they do well. It's a classic place offering a lot of classic dishes, prepared and executed well.

          Thanks for the review and comments.

            That's the feel of the place. Nothing trendy but lots and lots of really good food. And service was just as good.

          2. Now I have a craving...LOL...

            When I lived in Fort Lee I went to Patsy's all the time. It was a popular spot for friends, people I know, etc. and it was like a gathering/meeting place. I have an appointment in Fort Lee coming up, so I am going to head over to Patsy's for lunch.

            1. Here's a couple of pictures of my most recent visit to Patsy's. We also had a few appetizers, but I forgot to take any pics.

              * Fried Seafood Frutti di Mare
              Oysters, Shrimp, Calamari and Scallops

              * Baby Artichokes

              * Pan Seared Scallops

              * Baked Oysters with Gorgonzola

              * Grilled Pulpo

              * Tuna Steak with Broccoli Rabe and Shitake Mushrooms

              ALERT: Please note, Patsy's will be moving across the street when the renovations on the new restaurant will be completed. It's a larger building and they will be able to do private parties in the future.

                What a great dinner that was, four! Let's do it again. Please :)

                1. re: fourunder

                  That 3rd picture looks great, but I couldn't figure out what it was, then I realized Oysters Gorgonzola. Really? I LOVE raw and fried oysters, but Oysters Gorgonzola, I'm sorry that's making me gag. I honestly cannot imagine the flavor combination.

                2. Like I said, Patsy's is a classic place. Unfortunately, my plans changed and I didn't make it, but like so many other times -- I really want to get there.

                  Nice to hear they are moving...never thought that would happen, LOL.

                  When is the target date for the move? Thanks in advance.

                    I imagine 4-6 months. They have all the approvals so the construction should not be delayed.

                      Got it...thanks.

                      Where across the street? Not in the shopping center?

                      I haven't passed by their in so long...which is a real shame.
