"The China"?

Tried a "to go" order Saturday night. They should have called it "The Sports Bar", because that's really what it is. Add another sub-par Asian restaurant to the list in Quincy. Tried a few Chinese/American dishes to see if they could do the basics. Can't! Very forgettable. I guess I'll just stick with the tried and true in Chinatown and Norwell.

If they don't do anything stupid, they'll make a lot of money selling Bud light.

  1. That's a shame. We haven't tried it yet and I was thinking of maybe a takeout; now not so much. Parking isn't always easy there either. I suppose for a place to stop and have a few drinks maybe?

    1. In all fairness, I don't think they advertise themselves anything but a sports bar that does Chinese American food (daily dim sum aside), so why expect a 'tried and true' Chinese food experience? The dim sum is a tack on, and no offerings of traditional Chinese food is listed on their menu. Isn't this like going into Cathay Pacific and being shocked that their food isn't authentic?

I hear what you're saying, but I did say Chinese/American. My problem is they should be able to make a Chop Suey, Chow Mein, Egg Foo Yong or a Sub Gum that doesn't taste like it's been sitting around for a while and has some flavor. For lack of a better description, I'm looking for that clean, fresh taste.

That's too bad. While the dim sum crowd catches a fairly large Asian (presumably authentic?) crowd, the vibe and space though is totally sports bar as you noted. It's a little weird to see the ladies with dim sum carts pushing their goodies around in there.

Seems like if you could do solid Boston Style chi/american in a Bar in Quincy you could print money, but what do I know?

              No shit Sherlock!

              South Dot too.

That's why the mediocrity is so mystifying.
