Macaroni Bar on Saint Laurent Closed! Thank god!

lenagordan Jan 19, 2014 02:47 AM

From the start this place was run from club promoters that should of stayed as promoters and not restaurant owners! Don't know the names of the 2 guys but the one that was bald always looked like he was pissed at the world! Love the chef tho he kept it strong after losing from a poutine on top chef canada! I give it up to them but keep it to promoting and you will do well!

    There's a thread for that: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/927323

Yes, but I think this one deserves a special celebratory thread.

Worth it just for me having to stiffle LOLing when I saw the subject line at work.

Note on the door says it's closed for renovation; usually good timing at the beginning of january (because of slow business)

That corner is a very difficult one; even if it has the potential to have the best terrasse of the city.

Is it because of the high rent, or the large size? Indeed, everything seems to fail there.

It could be a cursed location...

Yes, there are some of those, especially a bit farther north, between Laurier and Bernard. I find it sad that there are now so few retail places in that stretch - there used to be many. It is densely populated and I'm sure a a lot of people would like to get groceries closer than PA or the rather dodgy Intermarché at the corner of Parc and St-Viateur.

That's why there's a Provigo right next door...

I wasn't referring to that specific location, but a few blocks north of there. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Actually, that spot isn't too bad in terms of groceries, as in addition to the Provigo, there is Sakaris, which has Southeast Asian and Greek stuff, and a Portuguese Intermarché. And Segall isn't far.

To me, that location screams out «bier garden».

What does this mean? It seems a bit garbled!

Alas, it is just a temporary closure. http://montreal.eater.com/archives/20...

But the chef is leaving, so who knows what it will be like when it reopens? (then again, from the sounds of things, who cares?)
