Birra Del Borgo - L'Equilibrista

Tried this last night, picked it up at Eataly in NYC. Beer/champagne hybrid, made with Chianti grapes and fermented with Chianti wine yeast, then bottled with champagne yeast. 10.5% ABV and quite an interesting blend of flavors. I'd say this was easily the most successful example of the style I've tried, beating out Deus and Scaldis Prestige. Now I'm sorry I didn't buy more bottles.

          Similarly, if you're tempted by the Draco ale with blueberries don't waste your money.

            Yeah I am looking forward to trying it as I always have liked Deus. Gives me an excuse to go eat some cured meats and seafood at Eataly.

            Did you go to the beergarden on the roof? Curious as to what you thought.

              Yeah, I have been there several times. I really like the food, especially the sausages. I'm not a fan of the house beers, though. Flat, and often weird tasting. They do get some pretty good guest taps, though sampling first is essential.

                Couldn't agree more. Most of the house made beers are just average and do not justify the $9 or so they cost. Still the sausages are good. The weird wall though blocks what should be a fantastic view.

    2. If it beat out Deus, I am certain to be impressed. Thanks for the tip -- I will keep an eye out for it.
