natsunoya teahouse for sushi?

indelibledotink Jan 16, 2014 08:55 PM

a guy at the dogpark i frequent on alewa heights said he eats there up to 3x/week. says he spends $80 or 90 vs mid $200s at mitch's or yohei.

i haven't eaten at mitch's (i might not, a lot of people, including this guy, say the fish slices are too big to complement the rice), but like yohei.

anyone try it yet?

Not a Yohei fan. Used to be one of our faves but prices went crazy. $110- omakase lunch?? Should have gone to Sasabune instead..

That's only slightly lower than the price I usually pay at Mitch's. They do have slightly larger pieces at Mitch's which might throw the balance off for some. I didn't realize that Natsunoya still had their sushi bar. Maybe i'll give it a try. It says on their website that it is byob which is nice to have as there are hardly any places anymore where that is the case without a corkage fee.

i thought the sushi bar was relatively new?

also at teh dogpark i met a lady who was the seller for tropic fish and she said the natsunoya teahouse makes the majority of their $ from the teahouse part and the sushi bar is a side thing they just like doing, thus the chaper prices.

It is relatively new, from about 4 years ago I believe. I just thought that when Garrett Wong left and opened up Sushi ii, for some reason the sushi bar went away. Although I guess that was a false assumption.

yeah, it's a secret unsanctioned dogpark.

have you ever worked on canine patients? i'd private message you, but chowhound doean't have that function.

yeah, that's a good price if they're including xrays.

i heard an interesting story about why dogs don't get cavities
but it's not for the squeamish

                        dental convention was last week
friend went to a class on cariology on friday
this one town in a third world country, kids ate lousy diets, poor oral hygiene, but no cavities
                        just like dogs
correlation- both have high counts of fecal coliform bacteria in their mouths
so if you eat sugar and don't have the correct bacteria in your mouth, you can not brush and still not get cavities

told you it was not for the squeamish

no, i am not recommending anything to do with fecal coliform bacteria

you should apply for a grant to do a study, lol.

they refined the procedure of doo doo transplants so now there's no actual poop being swapped, only lab grown stuff.

Gee, I am taking this back to the original question! I was at a function at Natsunoya recently. The food for the event was quite good, very good in fact. We walked down into the sushi bar just to check it out for future reference and everything looked really good and it was full. I think I'm going in February when the MIL comes……Hopefully it will be noisy :-)
