3 nights in Scottsdale
Spending 3 nights at The Sanctuary Hotel. Is Elements at the hotel worth trying? Celebrating an anniversary so we are looking for of course celebratory type restaurants! Have enjoyed T Cooks and Mary Elaines in the past but looking for something new. Thanks for the help!
I just went to Elements last week for my birthday. I was very impressed. The food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere was fabulous. The views are absolutely amazing. I would go back in a second.
On the other hand, I noticed Binkley's in another suggestion. I have been there twice (and only a second time because I thought I'd give it another chance). I hated it both times. The service is awful, there is absolutely NO atmoshpere, and it is extremely expensive. The food is good, but everything else ruins it for me. I had a terrible experience there for a family members bday with no apology whatsoever from the staff, or the owners who are there every night. It's no French Laundry, as they'd like to have you believe.
Congratulations! The Sanctuary is just the hot place to stay these days.
I haven't had dinner at Elements, only drinks a the Jade Bar, so I can't give you a good answer. But you can't beat sunset on the patio at Jade with a couple of cocktails.
I took my parents to The Marquesa at The Princess resort for their anniversary a couple of years ago. It was fabulous. The food, the service, all top notch. There's a great lounge at The Princess that is perfect for an after dinner drink. The name escapes me, but they have backgammon and chess tables around the room.
Binkley's is another wonderful restaurant. It's up in Cave Creek, which is a bit of a drive from the hotel, but well worth it. They're one of the few places in town where you can get stone crab claws, which are my favorite(Durants being the other place). I added a link to a review in the local paper.
Ah, Binkely's...of course...and I'd second Lon's, too - there's a new chef and while the new menu isn't pulsating with excitement, it's got a very nice buzz and hum to it - and that lovely patio with the view of the mountain...mmmm. That'd be your three nights, and the only other suggestion might be...if you love sushi, hie thee down into Scottsdale proper and go to Sea Saw, followed by after dinner drinks at Kazimierz...
