I need Fish & Chips in Las Vegas?
My elderly British granfather is coming to town and he is a true English gentleman when it comes to his food.
I'll be taking him out for all the usual British standards - roast beef dinner (plenty of steak house options there), breakfast fry up with a pint of guiness (also some good options to pick from.)
Here's the rub.
I have no idea where to get great fish and chips in Las Vegas. He wants the English style fish and chips with fat chips and battered fried fish (usually cod.)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you will be able to find a traditional roast beef dinner at a steak house. For fish and chips, try the pub at th e JW Marriot. It is Irish but the fish and chips are very good. You may also want to try Crown n Anchor on East Tropicana and Joey's Only.

Actually the Prime Rib Loft at the New Orleans does an English cut (3 thin slices of prime rib rather than the big old slab.) Granted there is no yorkshire pudding, but I think it's the closest I am going to get.
Thanks for the fish and chips tips! Is the Crown & Anchor an English pub?

Yes it is, and I second the vote for the fish and chips there.

Believe it or not, I actually had a decent 'fish and chips' at the Rio buffet. Check it out.

Best fish and chips in Vegas can be found at McMullans Irish pub on Trop nextg to the Orleans. You can get a small portion for $5.95.

Joey's Only, on Cheyenne just east of Buffalo, a mile or so west of US 95. Very good fish and chips. Joey's Only is a Canada based chain, but their fish and chips are far better than what I had in Ontario years ago.
Other seafood items are available. My wife likes the shrimp, I like the crabcakes when we're not into the fish that day. They're into fried seafood, but can also broil or blacken.

For me, I think that the Steiner's Pubs in LV have fantastic fish and chips. As good as Crown and Anchor, and without the drunk frat-boys on any given night.

My Brit husband said that apart from my homemade fish n' chips, he really enjoyed them at Fado, which is located at GVR. Happy eating...

I had a f&c lunch at Fado on 5/26. It was -very- good, the fish was sweet and flaky, they do a good tarter sauce and the surprise was the killer different coleslaw, with raw onions, red and green bell peppers. They are open till 2am every night, and have a to-go menu as well. The service was friendly and fast, not a complaint there. Got a pint of Guiness, and my meal was just about PERFECT, till I noticed I could have had Strongbow cider, and I became a sad panda. I love me my hard cider! Next time, I guess!

Hey all- if anyone has been reading this thread, i've got new places in Vegas to recommend for very good fish and chips.
MacMillan's Pub: Next to the Orleans is this Irish-themed/styled resturant and bar. For lunch it's decently busy, but it gets VERY busy for dinner and later in the night. The F&C were pretty tasty- in fact delicious! The cod is 2-3 large pieces, breading is tasty and dosen't get a chance to sit around and get soggy. The chips are allright, thick-cut. A better choice in my opinion are the alternate potato fried chips. Thick-cut, once fried they get nice and brown, crispy on the outside edges, a little bit soft in the middle. These are closer to what we in the US think of as potato chips, as opposed to the English chips. (they call theirs crisps, if I remember correctly) A high-point there is the extensive beer list, PLUS the happy treat of getting a cold Blackthorne's Cider with your meal. DELICIOUS!! Open 24-7
Village Pub: Various locations around town. This was recommended by a chef friend of mine, who's been eating there for years. Yes, the F&C was a delightful surprise to have, as it was fresh, tasty and plentiful. This Vegas chain has a very wide menu, something for everyone. But, knowing that at least 5-6 places around Vegas I can find affordable F&C, 24/7...Is a great thing. The atmosphere there is relaxed, and now totally non-smoking.
Steiner's Pub is still good, but I find myself hitting McMillan's or Village alot more often these days.
