i apologize for the wide open subject. Just moved
to Fountain hills and am looking to find easy, cheap,
delicious options for my husband and i and our
three boys, 14 and 3 year old twins. Cuisine
doesn't matter, just looking for affordable alternatives to cooking for two working folk unfamiliar
to the area. preferably no more than 30-40 minutes
away from our home in FH. Looking forward to
discovering this area. (from wisconsin)

Hi Jennifer,

Welcome to the valley. I live pretty close to Fountain Hills but rarely head out that way to eat for some reason, so if you run into some good options please post here. One place in FH I have tried is the Copperwynd Resort. Went once and had a good but not great meal. However, the views are spectacular. Worth trying but maybe without the kids.

Some other suggestions:

Casa Mia - Saddle Mt. Plaza North of Shea on 136th St. Excellent mid-range Italian.

Humphrey's pan-asian: Newer restaurant in strip mall at Frank Lloyd Wright and Via Linda (on SE corner near the good egg). Really, really nice menu with a lot of variety. I've had several great fish entrees there and the prices are reasonable too.

Aladdin's: informal middle eastern place on Via Linda and 90th near True Value. Excellent chicken schwarma wraps.

Jade Palace: Shea and 92nd. We go for their dim sum - the food is good, the service is not. But it is the closest dim sum available.

Hiro Sushi: across the street from Aladdin, at 90th and Via Linda. Good quality, comfortable atmosphere.

Slev,

Do you have any experience with the Cave Wine Bar or Redendo's Pizzeria? I have them on my to try list, but haven't made it out there yet.

I can vouch for Redendo's.

I had Anthony Redendo as a cooking instructor and then went to his restaurant and enjoyed the meal a lot. Huge portions, family-owned casual place. I really can't say anything bad except the wait can be long as the place is small and during peak times delivery can take a while too - again a supply/demand issue. The food was great.
