Cheap Eats in Phoenix/Scottsdale area

Four of us will be spending 5 days in the Scottsdale area playing golf in early January. None of us has ever been in the area before, and we're trying to do it on the cheap. I've read previous Chowhound postings which have provided some good background info, and have scanned other sources. Would appreciate any opinions on the following places (or any other suggestions for simple, inexpensive, eats):
Bandera; El Guapo's Taco Shop; Los Olivos; Fry Bread House; The Tee Pee; Hap's Real Pit BBQ; Texaz Grill; Carolina's Mexican Restaurant; Ristorante Guiseppe; Don and Charlie's.

As for your choices, I have eaten at Texaz Grill for years and the Chicken Fried Steak is one of the best anywhere. Go there for lunch as it's cheap--just about everything under $10 and you won't leave hungry. Also for Steak, try Monti's La Casa Vieji in Tempe. Been there forever and is great. Check their web site for dinner specials. Don & Charlie's is very good and real popular with Cubs fans. But it is certainly not cheap. For cheap Mexican food, try Rito's on 14th/Roosevelt in Phoenix. Not the best neighborhood so go for lunch, but it is the best green chili and burritos you'll find in Arizona. Not much over $7 there. La Parilla Suiza (Metrocenter area and Mesa) is also a good authentic Mexico City place with reasonable prices.

agree 100% with post from nj, but would add that you consider Los Sombreros on McKellips. And take out Don and Charlies -- definately NOT cheap eats. I'm not fond of Texaz Grill, but it's a matter of taste. Carlsbad Tavern another, though on the higher side of 'cheap.'

Carolina's rocks. They're known for their homemade tortillas.

Some on your list are excellent cheapeats, but you should forgo TeePee [and old Phoenix favorite, but past its prime -- the food is major boring] and Los Olivos. Try the Mexican restaurants on East McDowell [between 16th Street and 24th] -- Rositas and Adrians for terrific home-cooked Mexican [although not a big meat eater, I always get the carnitas at Adrians; my friends prefer the chicken mole], and if you want to go a bit past cheap to moderate, try San Carlos Bay, for truly fabulous seafood. The garlic octopus is everyone's favorite.
