I'm spending the Christmas holidays in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, and would welcome dining recommendations.

if in ahwatukee, check out caffe boa at 51st st and elliot rd, beats any chain type restaurant in the town. also, pasta brioni in scottsdale is off the beaten path and also very good.

not bad, but there is a much better Caffe Boa on Mill avenue. Mill and university has the original one with the original owners from Europe and the food is MUCH better there with a superior atmosphere.

Check out Norman's (Papago Plaza), Medizona, mary Elaine's if interested in high(er) end, Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale, Il Fornaio (has a new namem can't recall, but is NOT Il Forno - that's a chain),...what kind of food interests you? It's probably here if you know where to look.

Patricia - I think you have your restaurant names mixed up. According to Howard Seftel (AZ Republic), Il Forno is now called "Acqua E Sale", and "Il Fornaio" is the "high-profile chain" restaurant. BTW...he RAVES about Acqua E Sale!!!! Might be worth checking out.
