Las Vegas Ideas

Just back from a 3-day sojourn to LV and have the following to report...
Hugo's - Had a really good meal (excellent T-Bone)...everything ('cept dessert) comes with your entree, which at $35 is quite a bargain. I imagine this is what the "old" Vegas felt like...waiters in tuxes...lots of show (salad prepped at your table)...great Martini (comes in a little carafe in a bucket of crushed ice)...etc., etc. Not a bad little wine list, either.
Nobu - Pretty much up to NYC standards...I don't know if that's good or bad however...service was a tad overfriendly at first, and then turned somewhat inept! Yellowtail tartare and miso black cod were first rate.
Olives - Totally disappointed with my meal. And, once again, service was lame. They started clearing first course before everyone was finished, because they had obviously fired the entrees too soon. I mean, come on! This is one of my pet peeves...when you're spending a fair amount of money, I don't think it unreasonable to expect to be able to have 5 to 10 minutes between apps and entrees. And this is totally (in my mind) your server's call.
I think the chowhound find, however, is a place called Memphis Championship Barbecue. Local place (there are 2 locations), wonderful ribs, chicken, pulled pork, etc. This is THE place to eat at least one meal in Vegas.
Place I didn't get to try, but will next time, is in the Venetian and is a taqueria. Menu looked great and very reasonable. Oh well, next time.
