I would say the only can't miss thing at Bob's are the martinis. Not that it's a bad steak.

The are knocking Vera's down to make way for yet more condos! The food is of the funky home-cooked variety. It isn't at the top of the list, but it is one of the only places with some soul in an otherwise vacuous city.

          I meant Vern's.

Local and Standard are price comparable to Lola, so why not step up? York St. is worth extra cash, so step up again. The Mansion, while good, is overpriced (double Lolas ticket for the same food.)

Standard closed a couple months back.

        Can't name just one.

High-end dinner: Lola, York Street, and the Mansion on Turtle Creek for the classic Dallas experience that will soon be gone with the departure of Dean Fearing.

        Almost high-end dinner: Local, Standard

Barbeque: ribs at Baby Back Shack.

Mex-Mex: Cafe San Miguel, Vera Cruz, Nuevo Leon

        Tex-Mex: Avila's, Cuquita's, Manny's

        New Southern: Hector's, Hattie's

        Sandwich: anything at Jimmy's
