I am looking to have a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife in the Monmouth County Area ( preferably the Middletown surrounding area). I would like to have a private area to cut down on outside noise. Prefer a BYOB. We'll be having 40-50 people.

Can't go wrong with Italian. any suggestions?

we went to a private birthday dinner at beacon hill country club in Atlantic Highlands in November - about 60 people - it was tremendous - the chef cooked eggplant rollatini and veal saltimbocca - not a BYOB but our friend said it was competitive to having it at local restaurants - and we had a gorgeous room all to ourselves and there was not a rush to move us out - we all sat around over coffee for hours talking about stories of the birthday girl - my wife booked our daughters sweet sixteen there right afterward I think the lady who helped us is Katheryn

Depending on the night of the week I would suggest Christine's in the Atlantic Highlands. They don't have a separate room, but they might close the place for a party that size, so surprise! You have the entire restaurant!!! Read the reviews here, food is great, just don't know if they would it on a Fri or Sat.

second on Christine's - sausage egg rolls are amazing - what a great spot if you could have it to yourself - and a byob to boot - we did a private thing like that at Anna';s Kitchen in red bank a few years back that was great as well

Possibly check out Rigoletto Trattoria to see if they would host a private party - http://www.rigolettotrattoria.com - food is also good.

Rigoletto is good as you would have to rent the whole place out. Not sure what they would charge.

          Pasteria could work as well.

I've had parties of 20-40 in the side room of temple. It's cramped but good.

Djeet in the grove is another good option.

You may want to try Assaggini di Roma on Route 35 North in Hazlet. They are BYOB and they have a private room. Their menu includes a mix of traditional Italian dishes and some more creative (and delicious) dishes. Their prices are reasonable considering the quality and quantity of the food. We have always found the staff to be attentive and professional. If you go there - ask to speak to Dee.

Is this a newer place? Name doesn't ring a bell and I know that area fairly well, can you give a landmark?

Its been there for a few years and its ok I guess. I've been there 2x and neither were spectacular. First meal was ok, the second not as much. I would look elsewhere for a party though.

It is just north of Hazlet Ave on Route 35 North. In the shopping center with Dunkin Donuts.
