Decatur's... The Imperial
If you drive by this place on College Ave. in Decatur, then you have watched it build-out over the last year or so and wondered when it would finally open. From what I hear, we can thank the city inspectors for the extended wait. Speed is not one of their virtues rumor has it. Anyway, the wait was worth it I think. The place is small, particularly the oddly shaped bar, but I think they did the best they could with the space they had. You'll find an assortment of crafty beers as well as inexpensive tallboy domestics including Miller High Life & PBR among others ($3)... my preference. Their menu features the usual bar food at very reasonable prices and I think you'll find some unique surprises... pimento cheese comes with a sleeve of saltine crackers. When warm weather hits, I think we'll see lots of people hanging-out on their elevated front patio that looks inviting albeit spare without the beer logo umbrellas surely to be added. All in all... The Imperial is an excellent addition to the bar scene in Decatur.
