New Fagor with smelly gasket...

I have had my Fagor for over a month now and have used it 10 to 12 times and am pleased with its performance except... .I need some advice about the gasket. Even though I wash it thoroughly after each use it is holding on to old cooking odors. Any suggestions anyone?

  1. I noticed that too -- in my last cooking. The strong smell/odor from my last cooking was on my lid and I narrowed the source down to the gasket. I washed it with water and the odor was mostly gone.

If the smell bothers you, you can always take the gasket out and boil it in a hot water with baking soda or hot water with vinegar.

On the other hand, I feel this will shorten the lifespan of your gasket.

    1. Hi, Joan:

Unfortunately, this comes with the territory. You can try soaking in vinegar or baking soda water.

If it still bothers you, you might be better served with a gasketless design PC like the All-American. Or buy a lot of replacement gaskets.
